The exact circumstances of Matt Hill\'s birth are unknown. Stories range from quirky, improbable tales to exercises in creativity that are just plain ludicrous. According to some he was delivered at a 1983 funk festival by Bootsy Collins himself. Others say it was a kiss to his mother\'s pregnant belly from the lips of legendary studio drummer Bernard Purdie that started his musical journey. They all seem to involve a funk icon in some way, and one can\'t help but think they all sprouted as spin-offs of the same incident. Maybe they\'re all true. Maybe none of them are. Maybe Matt Hill was conceived and delivered at a year-long acid-fueled eclectic jam session and weaned communally by Curtis Mayfield, Aretha Franklin, Chris Cornell, and Keith Moon. It might as well be true. One night with The Floozies and you may even come up with your own story.

Most people seem to think Pat Adams is from another planet. That\'s because he is. At 141 years old, he\'s a youngster on his home planet of Funkatania, where from the age of four, all boys are forced into the drum pits to fend for themselves for the next twenty years, until the elders deem them ready for battle. Funk battle, that is. On Funkatania, all disputes, no matter how grand, are decided by funk-offs in which whoever grooves the hardest is the victor. Pat, whose birth name is Gorgolax, won his freedom from the groove army by playing his way into the Funkatanian Emperor\'s good graces, and was eventually granted permission to move to Earth and rob us blind because no one else can groove that hard, except for Matt Hill.
