After working together on a song for an independent feature film, songwriting partners Alexx Calise and Dennis Morehouse found they'd stumbled upon an amazing formula, and formed the delightfully "darkadelic" music project, Sound of Cancer. Named after the band's zodiac signs, SOC incorporates elaborate choral harmonies with ominous soundscapes and deeply introspective lyrics reminiscent of rock 'n' roll stalwarts Pink Floyd, Electric Light Orchestra, Portishead, and The Cure. The duo's debut, No Vampires in Gilroy--called a "perfect art rock album" by Zoiks! Online--is a concept album deeply rooted in existentialism, and chronicles the demise of the human spirit.

In a matter of mere months following its release, songs from NVIG were placed in such TV shows as Last Call With Carson Daly, Dance Moms, American Hero Channel's Bullet Points, Fuse's Essentials, and in the indie feature film, In My Pocket starring Gregory Smith and Zack Ward. SOC will be releasing their first single & music video after a 5 year hiatus on October 31, 2016; a cover of the nineties hit "6 Underground" by Sneaker Pimps.
