简介

“I see music in colors.”--Idris...... A quiet room has never felt so loud when Idris is in it. Humble, secure, and certain that music is his purpose, one can feel the greatness in Idris the moment he enters the room. The bass player/hip hop artist grew up as an only child in a not so bad but not so nice neighborhood in Philly. Idris pays homage in remembrance of the era that lit his fire for hip-hop, the 80s. That era molded him. Multiple rhyme books, breakdancing, pop-locking, rhyming on the corner, and beatboxing were his extracurricular activities; and he is very well aware of the historic role they played in his present day artistry. While an era molded Idris, he gleaned from his family’s musical agenda. A record always being played in the house, the radio always on…these things fed his ascending love for music. At fourteen, Idris would start getting serious about his artistry. He recorded tracks with fellow MCs in his uncle’s basement, wrote rhymes and made beats, but like so many budding musicians, life happened and dreams got deferred. Music became just something to do after a while, and Idris spent his young adult years dipping and dabbing in other careers, only to come full circle to that thing which is so strongly part of his being...music. After an impressive stint of touring all over the world with amazing artists such as Ledisi, Raheem Devaughn, and Leela James and still feeling like he had so much more to accomplish, Idris realized that it was time to slow down on supporting everyone’s dreams and begin focusing on his own. Understanding that growth and success is only accessible to those who are in motion, Idris began to musically revisit and compile some of his previous works. Those efforts birthed his debut album, The Passover. The Passover, appropriately titled because every track on the album was “passed over” by industry executives, is a powerful instrumentation and expression of individuality, independence, emotional authority, and intellectual logic that hip hop heads need and deserve. Idris is candidly aware that people, (the consumers) that will feel his music, appreciate that life has highs and lows, ins and outs, ups and downs. He takes into account that the world we live in now is driven by how one feels right now, that one person is not one thing at all times. In The Passover, Idris offers his listeners options in depth, choices in knowledge, and ultimately freedom. Idris’s honesty and openness on The Passover is intriguing and once it has you, plan to stay a while. The Passover is Idris telling the world…”I told you so.” Idris is a refreshing presence in hip hop. His plans for the future are infinite and exciting with mentions of theater, network television, and ventures with corporate conglomerates in pop culture. His mind is set, his body is disciplined, and his spirit is as humble as humble gets. His creative outlook will have the industry on the edge peeking in and always wondering “what’s next?”
