简介
Sayles’ & Mirabent’s 2006 album “El heno de la Muerte” is their first work together, and is loosely translated to mean "the Hay of Death." The Album and title track are Sayles' means of weaving together his experiences working on a horse ranch in 2006 with immigrant workers, blending broken Spanish with boot-knife percussion, trombone, and trash can rhythms in an attempt to capture the sound of the hay-baler that rhythmically ran while he bucked hay into the barn. "El heno de la muerte" tells the musical stories of eastern Oregon (Palisades, and High Desert Sonata), and includes truth & fiction blending together in the outlaw tale of "Dusty's Last Ride," featuring a Wyoming ranch hand that Sayles worked with who disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Other tracks feature classical music arrangements, open tunings, and musical reminisces of Sayles' and Mirabent's roots. the 8 song self-described “Albumette” is a one-of-a-kind example of the collision of northern folk & southern blues musical influences, with a broad western back-drop of true (& tall) tales.
