Over an eighteen-year career, Squeaky had two bass players and four drummers (most more than once) and three guitar players, but through all the lineup changes, the common thread was noisy pop music played with joyful abandon. Ninjaspiderhorse was, for many reasons, a watershed record for the band. It was the first to feature Danny Welsh on drums, and with his youthful acrobatic power behind them, Squeaky found their groove. The opening track, #1 for Takeoff, opened most Squeaky shows, and for good reason. It’s a great statement of intent for a band that was determined to go apeshit while writing tight, organized songs.
