Hello everyone! I am Steve Harris, a guitarist and composer from Memphis, TN. 'Somewhere Between' is the first recording I've done in many years and I am very pleased to have had the great Memphis musicians, Tommy Burroughs-violin, Barry Campbell-bass, Ben Flint-piano and keyboards, and Jeff Rust-drums and percussion, to play on this project. I also played bass on many of the songs, helped with some added percussion, did voice on "Bossa Float" and "July '68" in the bridges, and did some whistling toward the end of "Peering Over The Edge". The voices of my nieces Lucy and Sydney are on the end of "Merry Go Round". This music is contemporary jazz with some songs crossing into Latin, some into jazz fusion, and some may even be classified New Age. I have had those who have listened to 'Somewhere Between' many times, tell me that every song evokes personal diverse feelings and that the whole project is like a substantial and pleasantly interesting journey. I am grateful for those reviews! I am planning on building a studio this year and I will be glad to start spending a lot of time composing, playing and recording. I have a lot of recordings from my Korg M-1 which I want to fully develop with additional instrumentation. I will have my 'The Farthest Star' album eventually available also. It is a project on which my friend, the great Shawn Lane, played and co-produced, nine years before his passing. Shawn Lane, the phenomenal genius icon guitarist played no guitar (I did, no comparison to Shawn.) On about half the songs I played most everything (piano/keyboards, bass, strings, etc.) except drums and percussion, and on the other half I only played guitar, and Shawn played a lot of the other instruments (even drums, on which he was phenomenal.) Also on this project were the great Memphis musicians Tommy Burroughs-violin and mandolin, Jeff Rust-drums and percussion, Scott Thompson-trumpet and Kirk Smothers-saxophone. I am looking forward doing to a lot of projects in the future, even some lyrical material ! In the mean time I hope you enjoy 'Somewhere Between' ! Steve Harris
