Randy Nagel came up with the idea to write about this horse. Her story makes the hair stand up on the back of your head.. I found some info on her and wrote the song according to the inspiration Randy was able to communicate to me about her story . But Chas Williams made it come alive with his instrumentation and production. Then when Randy's son in law Michael Garding added strings, well, see for yourself. Many have said it brought tears to their eyes.

You can find out about her on the internet, and a statue of her has been erected at the state Capital. She graced the cover of Life Magazine, as one of the most memorable people (heh) in the century, along with George Washington and Mother Teresa.
