Derrick Joseph Walker,was born October 3, 1963 . He is a native of New Orleans, La. , raised in the 7th ward on St. Anthony & Claiborne. Derrick comes from a large family consisting of 2 sisters and 10 brothers. As young as the age of three, Derrick took an interest in music and began playing drums and various percussion instruments. At the age of seven , he played in the school's band, while learning the fundamentals of playing the snare drum. He played for several years throughout his school years and joined a stage band , singing background vocals. He started singing and performing at various talent shows during his high school years with a group called "Sweet Dreams", in which he sang lead . Once he graduated , he joined the Navy and sang in the choir as the front man. By 1986, he began developing a voice style which was first tenor and falsetto. He formed another group while in the Navy, and won several talent shows , but he didn't quite believe in his God given talent, especially after being told that he only  had,  just "A natural talent for singing". BIO Derrick didn't take his talent serious until 1994, when he auditioned for the Apollo. He made it through the first and second rounds but unfortunately, he didn't have enough money to go to New York for the finals. He continued singing locally in the City of Maryland, until he decided to go back home to New Orleans. Throughout his adventure in singing, he met the group Shai and Boys 2 Men, who inspired him to pursue his singing career. He later was introduced to a producer in New Orleans, Donald Norwood . CEO of Downtown Entertainment. He joined the DTE family in 2015, and connected with a female rap artist, Diamond P Cutz , whom he had the pleasure of working and performing with. His album, "THE STRUGGLE" , is set to be officially released at the end of 2016.
