Lowana discovered her deep enjoyment of the music making process at a young age. Between many hours spent in the basement on the old piano at her grandparent's house to writing her first song at 14, Lowana has come to know her truest and most honest self between the solitude and companionship found at a piano. As a teenager, Lowana often found herself at the piano composing deeply personal songs about worship, faith, doubt, guilt, longing, and love. Her timid voice soon found its way into her church. Feeling a calling to music and worship after graduation, Lowana moved west to study music at Briercrest College in Saskatchewan. It was here where she began to gain a deeper understanding and love for both Christian theology and jazz theory. Lowana's lyrical and musical sensibilities began to grow and in 2005, her first album was eagerly received by friends and family across Canada. Since then, Lowana has continued to incorporate a subtle jazz feel into arrangements of worship songs as well as her own compositions. Carrying a deep emotion that is both sensitive and courageous, Lowana's vocals communicate her desire to show honor to her Lord, Jesus Christ. Released in December 2008, her latest album entitled Hymns & Carols confidently leads us down an unexpected path of beloved Christmas carols intertwined with classic hymns. The neatly re-packaged arrangements are sometimes comfortably traditional, sometimes freshly quirky, but always respectfully and warmly affectionate.
