When they formed New Cool Collective 21 years ago, they agreed that one priority would never change: make as much music as possible. And they have kept to their promise. Following Hollandse Meesters, which they recorded with Guus Meeuwis and which went straight to number 1, comes their 15th album: Electric Monkey Sessions. Electric Monkey is the name of the sound studio in Amsterdam North where they recorded the album. A new studio and a new style of recording, creating a whole new vibe. On Electric Monkey New Cool Collective draw inspiration from Senegalese Orchestra Baobab, as well as psychedelic cumbia, Cape Town, Italian cinema and many of the great jazz heroes. New Cool had an amazing time recording the new album, spending the whole day in the studio playing and experimenting. That’s their forte and that’s what their audience has always loved about them.
