It takes just one dose of Sarah Borrello’s captivating performance and she’s got you. With a voice that grabs you and won’t let go, Sarah’s songs like “Stranglehold” and other fan favorites earned her New England Music Awards Best New Act of 2012, at just 22 years old. Yet, Sarah is no newcomer to the music scene. She has performed in the Northeast for over 6 years, at venues like Boston’s Hard Rock Cafe. In 2010, the. blues alternative singer-songwriter toured with Amanda Palmer, building a foundation for her guest appearances at Amanda’s Northampton, MA and Hudson, NY shows in 2013. Often described with words like “loud”, “ferocious” and “sexy”, Sarah plays both guitar and piano, which has given her versatility to create powerful and emotionally-driven music that touches the soul. In 2012, Sarah began recording her first official full-length album, set to release in the summer of 2013, at Bon Iver’s Studio in Wisconsin. Both prior albums, her first full length album ‘Therapy’ recorded at age 16 and her second “Black and White” (EP) recorded a year later, sold out. Sarah entered the world of music at an early age with classical piano lessons. After 10 years of study, she turned on her heels and picked up a guitar to enter the world of rock. Self-taught, Sarah spent countless hours training her vocals to the sounds of Kate Pearson and Cindy Wilson of the B-52′s, whom she describes as “the most perfect harmonies”. Sarah’s notable recognition includes winning the Boston Folk Festival Songwriting contest at 15 and the John Lennon songwriting competition in which she took second prize at the age of 16. When asked how to describe her music, Sarah says, “1/4 cup Grace Slick, 1/2 cup Fiona Apple and 1/4 cup Janice Joplin melted together until you get a smooth, strong consistency”.
