The band pianoforte is an instrumental piano/electronic music duo based in Quebec City, comprised of pianist Nicolas Roy and electronic artist Antoine Paquet-Côté. Their debut album was released on February 26, 2015, and features original compositions in a variety of different styles and instruments. Nicolas Roy pianoforte is Montreal-born Nicolas Roy. From the womb, Nicolas is raised amid classical music and his mother’s love of jazz. First a violinist, then a clarinetist, he quickly turns to the piano, the ultimate vessel of his creativity. Nicolas begins composing from the early age of 9. In 2001, he composes his first symphony; in 2006, he participates in an international composing competition organized by the renowned Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. His greatest musical influences are Claude Debussy, Radiohead and Patrick Watson. Antoine Paquet-Côté pianoforte is Antoine Paquet-Côté. From a young age, Antoine has moved to the various sounds and instruments of world music. He first studied piano at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec, before meeting his match in the clarinet. He obtained a Bachelor of Music from Université Laval in 2007. Today, Antoine nods his head to electronic, house and dubstep. His greatest musical influences are Basement Jaxx, DJ Tiesto and the Chemical Brothers. But most of all, pianoforte is the materialization of a life-long dream of writing and recording music.
