For Atlantic Canadian artist Connor Morand, the term "diversity" is more of a musical statement than a noun. His debut album "Matter of Fiction" was created based on this idea - a crucial element he hopes listeners will experience themselves.  "Music should never be limited. Ever. As artists,we are creative and will never stop thinking. Because of this, music evolves and we see new concepts in the songs we write," Morand explains, "and that's what makes music so fantastic. We have the ability to collaborate and experiment.  He backs up what he says through his own material. With a wide combination of genres, Matter of Fiction is an album that promises to please listeners of nearly every genre. He credits the success of the album to his fellow recording artists, including bass player Mat Leger, cello player Jaeyoung Chong and drummer Adam Gould to name a few.  The album was recorded at Doolang Music Studio in Moncton, New Brunswick with local engineer Duane Kelly (Grand Theft Bus, Slowcoaster) at the controls. After a year and a half filled with scheduling delays and other setbacks, the 10-track collection was completed in October 2012. ​ Tracks like hip-hop banger "Today" speaks of living in the moment and taking opportunities when they come. Others like title track "Matter of Fiction" expresses mystery with heavy baselines and crunching guitars in a funk-rock induced setting. Other works like "Ontario" and "Bus Stop" portray the essence of relationship with both others and nature using beautifully-sung lyrics over peaceful, acoustic-guitar chord progressions. With so many genres being showcased, it makes the overall emotion more than difficult to specifically pinpoint.  "My goal was to put out an album that showcased all of my abilities as a songwriter and I firmly believe that was a success, "Morand says. "I will always be able to improve, but Matter of Fiction is a great place to start."
