简介

KHUM is a free-form radio station serving Humboldt and Mendocino counties in northern California. The second installment in the KHUM Blend CD series is focused on North Coast bands and musicians, including The Rubberneckers, Lik'wefi, The Delta Nationals, Cuckoo's Nest, Kulica, the Sari Baker Trio, The Nucleus, Absynth Quintet, and many others. The Rubberneckers' "Another Sunny Day" was broadcast remotely from a farmhouse in Blue Lake. This performance, as well as the Delta Nationals' "Ovila Beaudoin," were featured during KHUM's "Back Porch" live music show. "Bodhi Tree," by Lila Nelson is the most-requested song on the album, and remains a KHUM favorite. Nelson, who is now a DJ for KHUM, was a relative newcomer at the time. It was recorded during a songwriter celebration of the Humboldt Folklife Festival. The CD also includes the debut of "Breakin' The Bank," by John Berning, who is well-known for his gas-price protest songs and has been played on NPR's Car Talk. The KHUM Blend series started nearly three years ago with a compilation of live performances from the KHUM studio in Ferndale, with the profits going to the Stop the Violence Fund at the Humboldt Area Foundation. The Stop the Violence Fund annually supports local organizations that work to fight the effects of violence and to help prevent domestic abuse. All net proceeds from this CD will go to Stop the Violence, as well. Visit www.khum.com for more information.
