Transgendered artist Brennet merges folk and electronic influences with soaring vocals and poetic lyrics to create a startlingly honest self-portrait. The stark texture of tracks like 'Trying to Try' contrast with the techno-industrial production of 'Victoria's Secret' and 'Breathe', and the album's closing track, 'We Belong', carries a message of diversity and inclusion: "When the same old voices say/That we'd be better off running away/We belong/We belong anyway." Namoli recently released an EP (Namoli B-B sides: Jan. 2004) and is currently recording her next CD, scheduled for release in June.
