简介

Francesco Greggio was born in Padua in 1982. He is a blues guitarist whose music is significantly enriched by different genres such as rock, funk, fusion and jazz. At ten he decided to pursue his passion, beginning formal studies at the music conservatory, studying the clarinet. At the same time, he was attracted and inspired by the guitar, for which he instantly felt a great connection. It was the beginning of an intense study of the instrument, which led to his discovery and love of blues. Soon he began collaborating and performing live with various musicians from rock-blues and rock'n'roll bands. In 2002, he played with the Blue Devils and Marco Pandolfi. In 2003, he founded the Zydeco Hogs; which produces an original repertoire of Cajun, zydeco and blues, typical Louisiana music. In 2003, he enrolled in the Accademia di Musica Moderna in Modena to study under Manuel Belli. There he studied the evolution of the blues guitar in modern music and he delved into other genres such as jazz, rock, funk, and even pop and country. He attended a seminar facilitated by Ed Cherry, the guitarist of Dizzy Gillespie, on blues as universal language, and applied to jazz. He took classes in Ear Training and Functional Harmony. In 2006, he graduated from the Accademia, obtaining his diploma in blues guitar with high marks and finishing two years early. He continued to collaborate with Manuel Belli, playing live and at seminars. With the Zydeco Hogs he recorded a promotional CD which was very well received and has been frequently broadcast on the radio, most notably on Fabio Treves’ Blues Express, on Rock FM. He has participated in several Italian blues festivals such as Deltablues (Rovigo, 2007) where he opened for Magic Slim and Charlie Musselwhite, and Rootsway (Parma 2008). In 2007, he joined the reggae band Arise, which was born from the ashes of Papyrifera Soul. He recorded People, a promotional album with six original songs. With this band he played in many clubs in the Veneto region and participated in the Rototom Sunsplash European Reggae Festival in Udine, and in the Nomi on the Rock Festival in Rovereto. The track People was included in the compilation produced by the Teach Me Festival of Venice. In 2008, he founded the Black Cat Bones with whom he performed a vast repertoire of rock-blues and southern rock: Allman Brothers, Ten Years After, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Robben Ford. The band mates included Barbara Belloni, Filippo Andrisani, and Eddy Montalto. In 2009, he debuts his first solo album, Blue Homework (recorded in the studio Nfrs by Ugo Bolzoni, in Rovigo) with Sucker Punch (Chris Boulet, Giorgio Bradaschia, Gianmatteo Lucchin) which is entirely self-produced, yet not officially distributed. He has participated in the Red Moon Fest (Padova, 2009) where he opened for Alvin Youngblood Hart, and in the Deltablues (Rovigo, 2009) where he opened for Joe Louis Walker. He is currently a teacher at the AMM National School at Camm in Padova.
