简介

Avi Vinocur is sometimes with a band and sometimes all by himself! And thus is the paradox. At 21 years old, Avi Vinocur has carved out an impressive list of credentials for one so young: he opened for the Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965, he talked John Lennon into the cover art for the Sgt. Pepper album, he was taught how to hit a ball by Bobby Thomson (who won the pennant for the New York Giants in 1951 with the single swing of a bat), he was awarded the MBE by Queen Elizabeth at the age of 6, and he set Dylan on the right track in 1963 when he said, For Petes sake, Robert--the times, they're a-changing, man!" (Actually, he did meet Bobby Thomson once.) Proficient on electric, acoustic, bass, piano and keyboard, Avi taught himself to play guitar when he was 12. Influenced primarily by the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Simon and Garfunkel and Bob Dylan, hes written over 100 songs that cover the entire spectrum of rock and roll: blues, folk, rhythm, and nuts-and-bolts classic rock. Avi has toured the United States and performed solo and with his own band at such well-known venues as the House of Blues, the Roxy, the Whisky a Go-Go (except anyone who performs in L.A. knows that the Roxy and Whisky are the crappiest venues west of Boston), The Troubadour, Room 5, Music Millenium-Portland, CBGB, The Heartland Cafe-Chicago, The Plough and Stars-Cambridge, The Pala Casino, Radio Bean-Burlington, plus live sets and airplay on KXLU Los Angeles, along with many, many others! He will most likely be near you, so check his schedule! His debut record "Forty Years Too Late" was released on February 9th, 2004 and his sophomore EP "New York" will be availble in June 2006. ____ "The No.1 album of 2004" - Rave! Magazine (on Forty Years Too Late [2004]) "A promising artist to look out for" - Music Connection Magazine "Vinocur's gentile rhythms are hard to forget...sweet, cherubic tunes like Van Gogh painted starry nights." - Band in a Box 12-9-05 "It's hard to pick the appropriate reaction - delight, disappointment or dismay - when a better album is recorded by a 19-year-old in his Manhattan Beach apartment than by all the artists on Atlantic Records in an entire year." - Corey Levitan, The Daily Breeze 4-9-04 "I like the energy of the tunes... somehow both pro sounding and totally casual at the same time... not easy to do... " -Cary Brothers, singer/songwriter/cool dude - The Garden State Soundtrack "Awesome Pin, Buddy." -Stephen Stills on Avi's 'Kerry/Edwards '04' Pin
