Redemption is the journey from yesteryear to the present day. It is the story of how oppression can be in recession if the thinker can imagine it can be so. Redemption is the fusion of spoken word poetry and complimentary music painting images for the listener to see something different. This CD grew out of the need to reach and teach a part of the American population that continues to struggle to discover their identity – The American Black Man. From the title track Another King to the end track Time; the CD patterns itself through the use of scaffolding. The journey from ancient times to these lines, how much has changed or how it has transformed into the same. Asking the question, “how much has changed?” The content of this CD is not meant to resurrect or perpetuate negative history, but rather demonstrate how easily shift can happen while applied. The power of delivery, coupled with the fusion of content and appropriate music accompaniment, each track is loaded with life experience from every aspect that it was created. Dedicated to the hundreds of thousands of American Black males that have lost their lives due to senseless violence. Self-Love is echoed throughout the CD in creative ways to incite the listener to positive and progressive change. Redemption is about what it means, reclaiming and restoration. This is not about reparation, but does demand an acknowledgement of his humanity and equity of access to everything this life has to offer. AYATI’s belief is that Billions of revenue is lost each year in this country due to America’s inability to truly take care of her own, modeling what “liberty and justice for all” is really about. Redemption is about the personal responsibility of each American Black man to realize his own potential for greatness. Once liberated to pursue his journey to unparalleled happiness, he too can discover increased levels of experience that elevate his existence. Redemption is simply the proclamation to announce the arrival of a new realization, “life and love for ourselves, families, and communities means healing, that is long overdue.” AYATI Speaks
