Pacific Northwest trio Blue Light Special mixes it up with their rare blend of swing, bluegrass, classic country and oldies, all with traditional acoustic instruments and earthy vocal harmonies. "For years we tried to put our music in a box, to categorize it," says mandolinist Theron Yochelson. "We gave up on that. Our sound defies easy classification. It's who we are." With guitarist James "Fester" Read and stand-up bass played by Betsy Yochelson, Blue Light Special fills out each song with supple rhythms and fiery solos while blending unprocessed vocals that keep it real.
