London hip hop artists Boy Nash and Cameron Uzoka have announced the release of their new E.P Numina Divum.The EP features a combination of styles and sounds ranging from hard lyrics to smooth vocals, poetry, sound bytes, synthesizer melodies, jazz, funk, rhythm and blues, and more; with many of these musical elements being presented simultaneously within each track. Both Nash and Uzoka are native South and East Londoners, and met in 2013 at the Hope 'n Mic monthly event in Shoreditch. After exchanging lyrics and musical ideas throughout 2014, Uzoka and Nash began to merge their unique styles to develop a new, overall sound which channeled their individual influences and musical approaches; the final conglomeration being realised in Numina Divum. Employing African pidgin, UK Slang, and what Nash calls “Afro beats with a hip hop roll”, then merging these with Uzoka's grime and hard rap background, the duet has produced eight tracks that definitively represent their creative efforts. Influenc es of Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and N.W.A. can be heard amongst layers of film samples, electronics, and deep bass drumbeats throughout the compositions. Also appearing on the release is Detroit poet Dahlia, offering a verbal painting called “Midnight Mirrors” supported by Uzoka's and Nash's music, and guest vocalist Yezah joins the duo on the last track, “Alien”. When discussing the title of the E.P., which is Latin for “The Gods”, Nash says, "[both Cameron and I] as individuals believe that each person is a god of his/her life, hence we always have the final say with respect to the decisions we make. [We feel] the E.P. touches on different aspects of life, which every one can relate to in one way or the other."Numina Divum E.P is self released.
