简介
Holly West’s new EP, MOKITA, is the surprise of the year. As a bassist in several Dallas based bands Holly garnered attention for her stage presence, and striking appearance. She moved on to a power trio where her bass playing blossomed. Ready for a new challenge Holly ventured out on her own. Her hard work and incredible musical growth is on display for us on MOKITA. A shockingly mature song writing approach, and the assist of a couple of seasoned pros on these tracks gives us one of the most promising debuts to be heard in years. Joining Holly on these tracks are the drum wizard Brady Blade and guitar hero Gary Hoey, long time friends of Holly’s. And handling the production is Chris Bell renowned for his work with the Eagles, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and the Mississippi Allstars to name just a few. The EP begins with the very personal “Memo”, a driving statement of authority and power, and wraps with a sensational and traditional cover of Led Zeppelin’s “When The Levee Breaks”. The five song EP reflects influences like Clutch, Slash & The Conspirators, ZZ Top, and the Rival Sons, but fronted with a powerful female vocal that really has no rivals.
