They Say is a Winnipeg-based rock band made up of five experienced musicians. They mix the driving energy of Hard Rock with a Disco pulse to create a unique dance rock sound of their own. The idea for the band was appropriately hatched under the scorching Tennessee sun during the Bonnaroo music festival when Jonathan Broeska and Jay Smith serendipitously met and started comparing their musical thoughts. Melding their words into action back in Winnipeg, their mutual love of creating music led to over a year of obsessively writing and recording. The urgency to get the tunes into a finished form led them to a scrupulous search for the best available local musicians who could help breathe life into them. Kevin Kornelson, Kurtis Wittmier, and Jesse "Poison" Ives, all accomplished in their own right, joined the band in 2011. Suffice to say, the band members are as different in their musical backgrounds as dogs are to mashed potatoes. With a collective musical genre history ranging from folk to metal, and from punk to funk, the newly-minted band has allowed their artistic freedom to take them into original and bizarre new directions. They Say, is: Lead Vocalist Jonathan Broeska, Guitarist\Vocalist Jay Smith, Drummer\Vocalist Kevin Kornelson, Bassist Kurtis Wittmier, and Guitarist Jesse Ives. The band is currently hyper-focused on a live show that will bring the audience to its feet, bang their heads, and strap on their electric dancing shoes.
