简介

The Second Circle featured a brand new band of friends who gathered into a studio space in Colorado Springs to capture their worship in a "one take" recording style. Sounds captured by Ben Pasley on a trip to India—on the streets, in the market, on the train—were layered into many of the tracks and give it an other-worldly sound. This album continues the tradition of singing from the heart of the Psalmist, and is overflowing with songs of sweet surrender, and personal affections toward God. The album has a tender heart toward God, and if those who are in a season that needs reassurance and comfort: this is the album. The song "Near to You" showcases the Psalmic honesty that we so desperately need when we are faced with crushing struggles: I stumble as my eyes follow ... the wicked to their riches I fall as I stand to see ... the blood on their hands I try to understand, but all I see crushes me But then I enter in ... to all of you, and now I know That as for me I long to be near to you, near to you As for me it’s good to be near to you, near to you Song: Near to You Writers: Ben and Robin Pasley This song is re-living the prayers of Psalm 73: Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. Those who desert him will perish, for you destroy those who abandon you. But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do. Psalm: 73:25–28 Writer: Asaph (Tyndale House Publishers. (2013). Holy Bible: New Living Translation) This album, way back in 2001, was their first album to feature electronic “loops” on the recording, surprise! They still recorded this in a live recording, but we triggered loops to begin playing and then we often played along with the loop which created not only an inspiring atmosphere, but also a timing “clock” to keep the songs sounding confident and relaxed. Triggering loops is now part of the Enter The Worship Circle concert experience as Ben Pasley and Karla Adolphe carry on the tradition. Remastered in 2017.
