简介
1 Purinjiti for flute, euphonium, strings, sticks and didgeridoo An atmospheric work in which stillness and heat of the Australian outback is punctuated with message sticks and digeridoo The word "purinjiti" means "message stick" in the Tiwi language (Aboriginal Australian) - I have adopted this word as a title for this atmospheric piece inspired by ideas of the hot arid outback of central Australia and of communication between all races. The solo instruments are flute and euphonium. The didgeridoo part is not notated specifically since it is intended to be an improvisation depending on the skills and inspiration of the player The string parts are a sort of continuo, with the harmonies becoming more and more complex as the heat of the day increases. It has been performed here by Budapest Scoring under Zoltán Pad. 2 Passacaglia for Flute sextet A passacaglia is a gentle stroll in triple time with a basso ostinato, which can vary. The Italian word "passacaglia" actually comes from the two Spanish words pasar and calle, indicating a walk down a street. The lower flutes provide the basso ostinato with its harmonic progressions and the others dream along with it on their gentle walk It has been performed here by Budapest Scoring under Zoltán Pad. 3 Just a few details, a virtuoso quintet for flutes, alto flute and bass flute The composer is reminiscing on an emotional misunderstanding with a fellow musician, which is then clarified and all is well (hence the title - "oh that was all details..."). It is a rapid, humorous and fairly complex rush in 5 time. It has been performed here by Budapest Scoring under Zoltán Pad. 4 Fire Dash for flute sextet with piccolo This is one of my few atonal pieces. The original piano solo, on which this sextet is based, had been composed to accompany a silent film about a fire chief dashing through the streets of New York in the 1920s. This flute sextet version has been arranged in memory of the Grenfell Tower disaster and the final phrases represent both the fire engine sirens and the words "too late". It has been performed here by Budapest Scoring under Zoltán Pad.
