A five-piece alternative rock/rap/punk hybrid band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ghost Dance Deluxe was the winner of two Minnesota Music Academy awards in the "Hip Hop" category in the mid-1990s. Their sound is a blend of live instrumentation with M.C. rap style vocals, intermixed with the classic D.J. sampling techniques of traditional hip hop. Ghost Dance Deluxe puts forth intellectually stimulating lyrics with a poignant social, political, and spiritual consciousness. Their unpredictable and truly melodic, yet unique sound, which explodes into hardcore rap and punk-inspired rock, is still considered by many to be the “freshest mix” around.
