简介
Twelve new songs from award-winning roots-country artist John Lilly. Accompanying himself on acoustic guitar and mandolin, this solo studio recording captures the live sound of a John Lilly concert or solo performance. A prolific writer, John writes songs that evoke memories of early country music while remaining firmly rooted in the present day. His humorous song "She Talks to Me (GPS Song)," for example, examines the strange relationship between a lonely traveling man and his navigation device. "They Tore the Cabin Down" appears on the surface to possibly be a long-lost Carter Family classic, but is in reality a lament about Mountaintop Removal coal mining. "Back to Dear Old Ireland," "Angel's Share" and "So Low" reveal John's deep roots in traditional folk music, while "Do What You Do Best," "How'd You Steal My Heart?" and "Thinking About the Weather" reflect classic country music themes and melodies. Songs of living, loving, losing and laughing written and performed by one of West Virginia's best-loved performing songwriters.
