简介
Aaron Espe writes songs which explore, among other topics, faith, family and the complexities of pursuing the American Dream. He has been featured on the BBC, MPR’s The Current, and The Editor’s Picks at CD Baby. Raised in small-town northern Minnesota, he presently lives with his wife and their dog in Nashville, Tennessee. ----- Aaron Espe has not lost his ability to weave storytelling lyrics with clean melodies, and evoke honest, uncompromising reflection on his latest album Three. With co-producer David Welsh (The Fray), Espe boosts his folky roots with pop-influenced electric guitars, synthesizers, percussive loops, and the occasional galactic bleep and underwater tone. Folk, electronic, folktronic - call it what you will, the album still bleeds Espe, whose work remains true to the grit of everyday life. J HUBRED/HEIDI LIN ----- SAT, APR 28, 2012 I've noticed I release albums like February releases leap years. It's that time again. I try my best not to put out average music. I've been told by three or four people that this record is good. They are friends, though. Not writers for Rolling Stone magazine. To you, their word is as good as a professional thief's. When I want someone's honest opinion about my music, I ask a four-year-old. My little cousin once told me that my music is boring. He kind of made my day. I'm not sure what he'd say about this new album. He's too old now and polite. Regardless of whether it's good or not, I can say that I'm proud of the work. As an artist I try not to be anything I'm not, but I also try not to run in place. I could have easily put out another record of guitar and bowed upright bass and extra light production. And I'm proud of those old albums, and I like that sort of music. But to do that again would have been like me repeating the eighth grade. At the very least, I hope this record represents ninth grade. Love, Aaron
