Nathaniel Davis is an independent musician, a singer/songwriter, and a multi-instrumentalist, playing for many other projects as a drummer, percussionist, guitarist, and bassist. "Hold On" is the debut release of all original material written by Nathaniel Davis, featuring the multi-instrumentalism. This 9 song release showcases Nathaniel on vocals, drums, percussion, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboards/piano. The styles are eclectic....an array of americana with a strong indie folk vibe that shows an undercurrent of blues and rock influences. Also featured on the album are: Chip Lutyk (multi-instrumentalist) - electric guitar, slide guitar, keyboards/piano, and saxophone. Jennene Estes - cello. Angela Davis - vocals. The album is filled with lyrical depth and its music with heart that take the listener on an eclectic journey of styles and moods. It begins with "Take Me Away", a driving song that plays like Keith Urban playing a Bon Jovi tune, leads you through memories of days gone by. Love songs like "All Fall Away" (reminiscent of The Swell Season/Once stylings of Glen Hansard) and "Lost In You" are tender and passionate moments that are sure to bring out the romantic in anyone. Songs like "The Way You Move" showcases a sultry, provocative flare (complete with the great saxophone stylings of Chip Lutyk), while the western tune "No Mercy" is a cinematic gritty cool that leaves you waiting for a high noon showdown. Standout songs like "Waiting On the Sun" and "Don't Waste Your Life Away" are incredibly catchy hook laden melodies that will stay with you and leaving you dancing; singing to yourself all day long. Their uplifting lyrics are motivating, the rhythms are lively and infectious, and you won't stop singing them. Emotionally charged, reflective lyrics fill the acoustic ballad "Where Did It Go?" challenge you before being again uplifted by the simple, yet stunning title track. "Hold On" is the mantra of the project. The strings and vocal harmonies are hauntingly beautiful as the lyrics challenge you to be all you ever wanted for yourself. "Can you hold on to your dreams like a child? Can you reach for the sun; feel it burn like a fire?"
