Obviously, the great thing about making music is the inherent collective nature of the process: get people to play and sing together in a room and great things might happen. The sum might be greater than the parts, new and unexpected ideas might spark and a great song might suddenly appear. I know, because I've been doing it for decades and it never loses its appeal. I will always be performing and recording with people, but once in a while, especially now, when modern recording technology enables us all to make our records at home, I like to retreat to my little home studio, work on my own ideas and see what comes out.
