Symbol

Little is known about Symbol (and believe me I tried to dig up some info), but what is known is that from the early age of 5 he was writing and composing his own songs. A child of two musicians and brought up in the soul and R&B roots, he has a sound like no other and his influences run deep. Taking a cue from one of his mentors, Prince, Symbol decided to do things his way and get his own voice and style going--hence "fEARS rULING pLANEt". The album itself is a mix of r&b, trip hop, funk, industrial, and soul (yeah, I know--kinda hard to describe), with lush melodies, beautiful soundscapes, and thought provoking topics such as war, politics, homosexuality, and death. Produced, arranged, composed, and performed by Symbol himself, he even has a hard time describing his music. "I try not to give it a label. My good friend called me after he listened to it and said it sounded like two people who had never met before came together and said lets do an album. I was flattered by that. I like all kinds of music, so why shouldn't mine reflect that collage?" When asked what his inspiration was, he answers with a slight smile and says, "I went outside and took a picture and this is what developed." He then elaborates a little further. "This is just a reflection of how people voted this year. Hopefully, I won't have to tell this story again. Living in the DC area will change your views on who are the real evils of the world. Dig, can you?" Always moving forward, Symbol is already in production on his next album. "This one was just to get all the dicks hard and pussies wet, an introduction, if you will. The next one I want to be an epic. Hopefully, you will take that ride also."
