Richard Hollis (born April 8, 1975) is a gospel-soul singer-songwriter who has began to draw comparisons to r&b soul greats like David Ruffin and Glenn Jones. Born in Houston, Texas he first discovered his love for music while playing drums at the age of 5 in his dad's pentecostal church. He later found his love for singing while in jr. high school at the age of 14. In 1999 he and his group left Houston for "The Big Apple" seeking a record deal. While in Manhattan this pursuit would take a divine turn that was all orchestrated by God. Richard, knowing that his calling was much more than the dream of secular fame he was chasing, was lead to walk away from the genre all together and rededicate his life, soul and gift to his now Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After taking a break from music and soaking in the Word of God, he accepted his calling into the ministry and was ordained as an Elder in 2003 by The Church of God in Christ under the late Bishop G.E. Patterson. In 2011 Hollis revisited his r&b roots and released the Motown inspired single "You Will Never Find." The single has and is still receiving great reviews and is in rotation at over 750+ local, regional, terrestrial and internet gospel radio stations. The single was voted #1 by the Oasis Music Review Board and was placed on their Annual Inspirational Sampler CD in 2011. Through the calling of ministry Richard has been blessed to share the platform with r&b legend Howard Hewitt, Stellar award nominees Kim Burrell and traditional gospel recording group Endurance. He has opened for contemporary gospel recording artist Gary Mayes & Nu Era, James Fortune & FIYA and GMA’s Dove award nominee Brian Courtney Wilson. Being obedient to the “The Great Commission,” (Matthew 28:19-20) Richard has been taking the gospel message abroad to churches, shelters, prisons and juvenile detention centers and impacting the lives of the lost with the gifts of preaching, singing and exhortation. He is currently in the studio recording material for his second studio album titled "Lost & Found" which is set for release in the fall of 2013. ​
