As a transplanted Canadian, and as our Canadian visitors who are lucky enough to attend NHL games in Nashville remind me, going to a hockey game in Nashville is a lot different than in other, more traditional hockey market cities. Our fans are loud, boisterous, and often blissfully unaware of some of the finer points of the game. But the speed, body contact, and skill that embodies ice hockey have all made made it a favorite team sport of many southerners who have never even worn skates. Country Hockey Heaven pays tribute to Nashville's hockey fans and players of all skill levels, while at the same time lightheartedly acknowledging just how "non-traditional" we are.
