简介
A collection of thirteen songs written and arranged by Fergus McKay as he has travelled around Europe, harvesting ideas and influences. The music is folky with elements of jazz, blues and swing. His style has been compared frequently to artists such as Ronnie Lane and The Waterboys. Working with musicians from all over the world has helped to add elements to the sound that make it hard to categorise the music as any one pure genre. Fergus has toured extensively working in festivals throughout eastern and western Europe, and in 2011 and 2014 touring as support act for Grammy award winner Joan Armatrading. Collaboration with musicians and songwriters from Brazil, Ethiopia, South Africa as well as many European musicians on Fergus's recent Humanitarium projects has broadened his skills as producer and arranger. The sessions for recording were invariably live with a core of acoustic musicians, the aim was to capture the sound of musicians working together, a rare thing in this digital age, where perfection of sound and technique are often valued over spirit and energy. A second album is currently in the process of being recorded and should be released in 2016!
