简介
A fresh, young 25-year-old singer-songwriter with big dreams and an ever-expanding fanbase, artist Jamie Kent’s future as a performer looks quite promising. Drawing on influences from modern artists like Jack Johnson and Jamie Cullum, as well as paying tribute to classic greats Johnny Cash and Frank Sinatra, Kent’s perfectly mellifluous tunes are roll-the-windows-down, soak-up-some-sun kind of good. Since the release of his debut album “Neoteny,” the singer-songwriter is currently collaborating with his trio, Jamie Kent & The Options, to cultivate a sound with a strong "folk meets funk" influence. In the past year they have toured extensively across the US, playing over 200 shows throughout 40 states. Additionally, they have received national radio play on over 120 stations, and recently signed licensing agreements with MTV, VH1, Bravo, and The Discovery Network. Navigation is Kent's Sophomore release, and has been deemed a "major step forward" for the young singer-songwriter on many levels. "One part folk, one part funk, two parts pop, and a whole lot of joy", claims one reviewer of the new release. "Whereas Kent once toyed around with trying on other people’s styles, he’s now found his own. The disc captures this new confidence and sense of identity beautifully." Listeners will also be treated to killer guest performances by Jon Graboff (of Ryan Adams & The Cardinals) on pedal steel, Charles Neville (of The Neville Brothers) on Sax, and Scott Murawski (of Max Creek and Mike Gordon) on electric guitar. As an independent musician Kent has also created a unique business model to support himself full time. “The Collective”, as it’s called, is a community of his Kent’s most loyal fans, friends, and advisors who support his career from day one, and reap the greatest returns from its growth. “Partners” in The Collective provide financial support and creative consultation in return for free access to exclusive cuts of his music, live performances, the coolest merchandise, and a voice in the major decisions he must make throughout his career. Already The Collective has fully funded Kent’s first year and most recently was able to vote on and determine the album art of his new record Navigation.
