This is particularly true for those in the unfortunate position of being adolescent pop stars. Everything from the packaging to the musical content of Servando y Florentino's self-titled 2006 release tells the world that they're ready to be taken a little more seriously. The look of the brothers has changed significantly, now sporting facial hair and slightly confrontational sunglasses. Similarly, their sound now comes across as developed and confident. Many of the stylistic choices are still poppy, but with a distinct South American flavor that is missing from many of their contemporaries. There are few in the Latin pop world who can really find a good balance between MTV and Telemundo. With a sound that is both Caracas and Miami in equal proportion, the brothers Primera seem to have found it. Both their vocal performances are consistently pleasing and strong. Having penned eight of the disc's ten tracks, Servando Primera seems to have hit his stride, and could be emerging as an artist to watch. There are elements of the youthful aesthetic that marked their earlier releases, but it's noticeably distilling into something stronger. Whatever the future holds for the brothers, their passage into manhood, if not complete, is off to a great start.
