Mic Smith – trumpets, piccolo trumpet, flugelhorn Jeff Gibble – electric guitars Matt Price – drums, percussion Triquetra is the brainchild of Mic Smith (trumpet) and Jeff Gibble (guitar), with the help of Matt Price (drums). The project was a realization of their desire to create exciting interpretations of Christmas standards. Each of the nine songs takes listeners on an exhilarating journey through smooth trumpet solos, burning guitar leads and swinging drums that will get everyone in the Christmas spirit. There is a song for every mood this Holiday season; relaxing by the fire with "Silent Night", swing dancing with "Jolly Old Saint Nicholas". Imagine a New Year's parade with "Auld Lang Syne" or a Carribean vacation in “I Saw Three Ships”; enjoy sophisticated soloing on tunes like "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" and "We Wish You A Merry Christmas". Mic Smith, trumpet(s), received his formal orchestral training while attending the Peabody Conservatory. His teachers include Wayne Cameron, Ray Moore and William Vacchiano. His professional experience includes performances with the Baltimore Symphony and both the Broadway and National Touring companies of “Cats”. He has also been a sub for numerous Broadway productions in New York. In the commercial field, “Mic” has worked as lead trumpet backing up many performers such as: Frank Sinatra, Celene Dion, Pia Zadora as well as many others. He has also held lead trumpet positions on the Carnival and Dolphin Cruise lines. Currently freelancing in the Tampa/Orlando areas, he enjoys a wide variety of work from recording studios, solo engagements, and various chamber ensembles to commercial lead trumpet playing. Mic maintains the position of principal trumpet and orchestra contractor for the Spanish Lyric Theater. Jeff Gibble, guitars, has toured numerous nightclubs and taverns on the east coast with the rock band Alaska, jazz-fusioneers The Edgar Myers Trio, and the progressive rock band AudioJoe. (He first wrote tunes in 4/4, and then composed in more complex times like 5/8, 7/8 and 9/8. Is this what they mean by "progressive"?) He also appears on numerous recordings with many diverse musical artists. Jeff currently performs in the State College region with the jazz-rock fusion ensemble Unsung Trio. Matt Price is a State College, PA based performer and educator who has been teaching professionally since 2007. Matt began playing drums at the age of 8 and learned his earliest concepts from his father who was also a drummer. Most of his youth was spent playing along to albums and playing in various bands from the time he was in 8th grade. Matt decided to take his passion for drumming and music to the next level by attending Berklee College of Music in 2005. He graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Professional Music in 2009 with a focus in performance and music business entrepreneurship. While at Berklee he had the honor to study with some of the modern masters of drumming including: Dave Dicenso, Rod Morgenstien, Mike Mangini, Ian Froman, Rick Considine and many others. Aside from drumming Matt also studied jazz and traditional harmony, arranging, ear training, music history and music business and entrepreneurship. Shortly after graduating Matt began teaching private lessons in State College at Robert M. Sides Family Music Center. The first summer there Matt helped coordinate the first ever summer rock camp at Robert M. Sides. Since then rock camp has evolved into a summer long event with multiple levels including public performances and recording opportunities. He has also helped with the Youth Jazz Experience at RMS and coordinated group lessons, student recitals and a student of the month program. Matt also co-created and coordinated a rock based music program at Center Learning Community Charter School in State College in 2010. Matt teaches group rock band classes, private lessons and coordinates school sponsored concerts for kids under 18.  While Matt maintains a busy teaching schedule he also finds time to perform and record with various groups and artists from the Pennsylvania area.
