简介
In July of 2005, saxophonist Rahsaan Barber released the debut CD of TrioSoul, s Nashville-based trio featuring Hammond B-3 master Moe Denham and drummer Robert Bond. Rahsaan's twin brother, trombonist Roland Barber also adds his soulful, plunger-in-hand playing to two tracks as a special guest. The album's nine selections explore Rahsaan's deep roots in jazz and blues, as well as his passion for the blues-tinged work of soul-sax icons such as Ben Webster, Gene Ammons and Kirk Whalum. The album's most enduring moment is TrioSoul's sweet and soulful rendering of "You Don't Know Me", recorded in tribute to the late icon of American music, Ray Charles. Also, listeners will enjoy the rare opportunity to hear Moe Denham's raw and romantic rendition of "With These Hands" along with two of Rahsaan's compositions - the funky "interlude 773" and "Song For Stanley T" - a tribute to his first great influence as a saxophonist, Stanley Turrentine.
