简介
Maine Arvie, the artist that seeks superiority. Many artists struggle to establish their musical identity, laboriously trying on different musical styles like a piece of clothing, looking to find what fits. There are others that emerge fully formed, in full command of their craft, their identity and their music. Maine Arvie fits firmly in the latter category. His new album, "No Excuses" , is a captivating and moving debut that heralds the arrival of a gifted and significant new talent, one whose music feels familiar in the best possible way, while striking out on its own territory. " I am the future, evolution of hip hop in the flesh! " A Texas boy that grew up in Beaumont, Tx 85 miles from Houston in the backstreets during hard times & faced many adversities as a child. Being seperated from his mother early all he had was his grandmother & the radio inside of the car they lived in. " I didn't take music serious until I was 18, I've just always loved it & been around it. My grandmother taught me how to read, reading the newspaper, poetry & comics were first. I'm funny but, naturally I became a poet which has lead me to become a composing musician". Maine, grew up listening to all genres of music from the likes of Al Green, Run DMC, to Phil Collins & Aerosmith. " I love music in general, I started producing beats as well as song writing r&b recently to really express my musical gifts." As his name is growing in Houston and around the Texas area, the pieces are beginning to fall into place for him. Entering a citywide battle & networking hustle in Houston, Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans I'm beginning to perform in bigger shows for an ever-increasing local audience. Recording continuously, Maine hooked up with local producers Sickstrumentals ( Sick & Damo ), (credits Boson George, Kirko Bangz, Killa Kyleon...) ,producer Bruce Waine, engineer Melo Genius (Hit Scholar) the team has recorded an epic album at Legal Hustle Studios in Houston & Atlanta. The songs are sparking major interest from several consumers before its release, but Maine isn't satisfied. “Working with my team has given me the freedom to be myself and to make the music exactly the way I want to make it, but I'm not content ” he declares. This freedom has allowed Maine to produce the "No Excuses" project with a sense of freedom that allowed a wide spread of music to smoothly flow. He reflects, "There was a lot of trial and error that went into the album. The songwriting is far more detailed, and that was reflected in how I recorded. The way I compose my songs are key to setting myself apart from the everyday "rapper" & gives me the edge on producing ". He recorded 36 songs for the project with his own engineers, producers, song writers, & artist, as well as inside if his own recording studio. From the opening notes of “Shut Up,” the album’s first single, one hears a combination of melodic irresistibility, ambition, and lyrical incisiveness that are becoming Arvie’s hallmarks. " The song was about a robbery that actually took place & real life situations. Sometimes you just want to bluntly express yourself without judgement & say "Shut Up"! The vibe of it is Muhammad Ali meets Neo from the Matrix. Indeed, that feeling of being a kid again is one that’s prevalent on "No Excuses". Maine explains, “ ‘Street Dreams' and ‘Shut Up’ are the album’s bookends and I based everything on the tone of those two songs. Part of it is nostalgic. It’s me seeing things through a kid’s eyes - in that way that everything is big and heightened when you’re young, wild, & free.” It’s that sense of wonder that sweeps through the album, and with the resounding piano chords, shimmering guitars and the steady, yet propulsive rhythm section, it’s 80 minutes of modern foundation hip hop, to southern rap tunes yet mixed with pop rock nirvana, made wondrously alive and new again. Maine doesn’t just rap the songs - he inhabits them and lives them out, making his tales of growing up three dimensional in the most powerful of ways. "Being on the road all the time is something I’ve always wanted.” Now with his production team, Maine is recording his songs precisely the way he’s always wanted, creating a fully realized album that is the culmination of where he’s been and where he’s going. The project is one that is sure to win him the notoriety that is demanded by the depth and quality of his songs. " I'm gaining momentum" - Maine Arvie
