简介

The Quintetto Bottesini was created in 2006 with the intent of rediscovering a rarely performed musical repertoire of great interest that brings together violin, viola, cello, double-bass and piano. This particular instrumental ensemble was consecrated by Franz Schubert in his famous “Trout” Quintet (1819). The repertoire of the Quintetto Bottesini also features virtuoso pieces by Giovanni Bottesini (the renowned double-bass player, composer and conductor who gave the Quintet its name) and works by Hummel, Ries, Goetz, Limmer, Onslow, Farrenc, Vaughan Williams, etc. Of the contemporary repertoire, the Quintet performs pieces by Astor Piazzolla (Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas) and various Italian composers such as Fabrizio Festa, Stefano Taglietti, Raffaele Bellafronte, Carlo Crivelli and Marco Stassi who have composed especially for the ensemble. The group has received both public and critical acclaim for its performances in many festivals and theatres throughout Italy (Parco della Musica in Rome, Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, Florence, Palermo, Teramo, Asti, Bari, Terni, Latina, Foggia, Napoli etc.). Their tours of Poland (2006), USA, Ecuador, Venezuela and Brazil (2007), Jordan (2008) and USA (February 2010), were highly praised, both by the public and by the critics. In December 2007 the group was invited to perform at the Italian Embassy in Washington D.C. on the occasion of the visit of Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Republic of Italy. Recently the music magazine “Amadeus” published the group’s CD recording of Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet and Goetz’s Quintet op. 16. In 2008 and 2011 the Quintetto Bottesini was invited to perform at “I Concerti del Quirinale di Radio Tre” and the concerts were broadcasted live by Italian National Radio and Euroradio. The members of the ensemble are: Alessandro Cervo violin, Federico Stassi viola, Amedeo Cicchese violoncello, Roberto Della Vecchia double bass, Linda Di Carlo piano.
