"With influences of Oscar Peterson, Bud Powell and even Thelonious Monk, she is just one thing...a GREAT pianist!"...Ricky Miller, JazzUSA It has been said by jazz writer/critic John Gilbert that Lenore Raphael has a "love affair with the piano". Indeed she does. Lenore Raphael has clearly listened and been influenced by the bebop greats of the bebop era of the 1940's. Influenced by Clifford Brown recordings of tunes like Jordu, Daahoud and Joy Spring, she has also absorbed much of the romanticism of the mainstream '50's, a la Bill Evans. Lyricism and virtuosity plus originality abound in her style. Always upliftng and joyous, her music is "eminently listenable...the name that first comes to mind is Bill Evans"...G. Stonestreet, In Tune International As one critic writes.."Every note glows and she is a powerful voice in jazz. With role models like Bud Powell, Oscar Peterson and Bill Evans, she has assimilated all these styles, but "never slavishly imitates anyone." Always swinging, always emotional and in touch with the tune, she interprets each tune with the composer's intent. Being a composer herself, she has a feel for the right color in each song. Lenore has a busy performance schedule and is selling out at concerts and festivals across the country. She has been a featured artist at the East Coast Jazz Festival,(Rockville MD.) Panasonic Village Festival (NYC), Cape May Jazz Festival, Orange County Performing Arts Center, Keyport Jazz Festival, Gainesville Jazz & Blues festival, Scottsdale Yamaha Jazz Showcase, IAJE Jazz Showcase (Long Beach, CA) 15th Annual Jazz showcase (New Bern NC)and many more.
