Inspired by artists such as J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and Ed Sheeran, twin brothers Zack and Cam Cokas bring the humbling experience of being a young artist to life: from the frustration with the unoriginal, to the relentless work and energy, to the aching desire to fulfill one’s destiny. Filled with persistent rhythms, jarring dissonance, and haunting melodies, the Cokas brothers chronicle their true origins story in a partial homage to their home state North Carolina, or “Cackalacky”, and render a nostalgic recollection of the sleepless nights and “Overtime” they gave to their music. Striking a chord with any new artist that’s trying to make it, the Cokas brothers are making it clear: they didn’t come “Out the Blue”, this work has been years in the making.
