简介

Born in Boston and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, singer songwriter Kevin MacDonald first performed in public at the age of 6. He owes his skills on the piano to Mrs. Alice Cann who taught him how to read and play music. Keen on performing, Kevin learned Gaelic for the Cape Breton Summer Festival and later wrote the town song of Glace Bay. His ability as a singer led to many appearances on both radio and TV as well as being featured on the CBC program Who’s Who. He later studied Jazz and Classical Voice and Composition at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Canada. Some of Kevin's early achievements include: Two appearances as a featured songwriter on CBC Radio, Canada's national radio station, a video release featured on Much Music, Canada's MTV, with the Halifax based band Steps Around The House, recording the title song for the movie Toby McTeague in New York and working with Kevin Hunter, Natalie Cole's former manager. This song, incidentally, was nominated for a Genie Award, Canada's version of an Oscar. His work led him to another trip to New York to collaborate with such greats as guitarist Rick Derringer of "Hang on Sloopy" fame and engineer Bob Brockman who later won a Grammy for his work with Tony Braxton. Coming home Kevin's song “In Aggression” won the Q104 Radio's songwriting contest while performing with his band New Graffiti at an open-air venue for 50,000 people. Their winning performance took them to Toronto where they performed live on a coast-to-coast TV program hosted by Jim Carrey. Kevin was also awarded a Canadian Factor Grant for excellence in the category of Pop Songwriting for a collection of songs including “By The light Of the Moon”. Since 1992 Kevin has been touring Europe as a piano entertainer as well as continuing as a voice over artist and singer with radio commercials in Canada for clients such as Halifax Tourism, Milk Canada and Labatts Beer. Kevin also played with his high school friend Barry Colson in the first Dueling Piano Show in Europe called “The Neds” and their first performance at Zachariasbryggen, Bergen, Norway led to further shows in Germany and Switzerland and to recording the album “Global”. Kevin took on the stage name Kevin Owen for his live performances as an entertainer and his work has taken him to the best rooms in Europe such as Frakken in Trondheim, Club Indochine in Zurich and the famous dueling piano club Crazy Pianos in The Hague, Netherlands playing for audiences of 70’000 people a year and performing a live request show on Dutch radio 3FM. Performing solo and dueling shows in Europe, Kevin traveled from alpine ski resorts such as Davos, where he played during the World Economic Forum and for the Spengler Cup at the “Tonic Bar”, north to Zurich, London, Oslo and Reykjavik and as well as Germany and the Caribbean. Kevin has entertained for corporate functions for companies such as Oracle, BMW Racing, Lindt & Sprüngli, Phillips and Swiss Re. While in Reykjavik, Kevin was featured and performed live on Iceland's national radio station RUV and was recorded live in Zurich from The Splendid Bar for a 3Sat German TV production, which aired in Norway, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Still writing while traveling, he recorded the EP “California” with friend and producer Kurt Hahn. Kevin met his wife in 1998 and moved to Switzerland in 1999. They moved to Austria where there was a profound shift toward what Kevin feels has been his true roots, songwriting. This surge in creativity has opened the door to writing with and for new talented artists such as the Angels, Croatia, Adrian Poulsen, South Africa and the Swiss based singer Eve Kay (TBA Records) who released her first single with Kevin’s “I Dream In Color”. Songs on her album include “Shine Again”, “Reveal” and “Automatic” released in 2007 and South African actor and musical leading man Adrian Poulsen recorded the heart-felt ballad “Anything” as the lead single and video for his debut album. Kevin’s song “Let’s Kick It” was released on the Best Fan Songs CD (Musikvertrieb) of the Swiss National Soccer Team for the FIFA 2008 and he is also writing for the Croatian all girl rock band Angels. In Collaboration with his wife Sibylle, he started his own entertainment service company TNBT in 2008 featuring his own brand of piano entertainment as well as a cover band called The Traveling Pop Show, which is a piano performance backed by an 8-piece Pop Orchestra. Exploring his range in songwriting, Kevin writes Pop, Rock, R&B and occasionally tiptoes through Country. He is a member of NSAI, AIMP and SOCAN, Canada’s Writers Society. As an entertainer 2010 leads Kevin to perform at Ernie Biggs, Little Rock, USA, as well as to his regular stomping ground in Europe: Switzerland. Kevin has recently completed his first Christmas CD, You'll Know I's Christmas featuring his first Holiday song with the same title. Look forward to a new album of original works coming in the spring of 2011!
