简介

Lisa Lopes was born in Lisbon, Portugal. Her father was born and raised in Guinea Bissau, and her mother originated from Sal, the Cape Verde Islands. Lisa identifies herself as a CVGB (Cape Verdean & Guinea Bissau) criola. Residing in the United States for the majority of her life, she never lost touch with her roots. Throughout her earlier years, Lisa’s father exposed her to music from all parts of the world. The sound of music permeating through the house was part of their daily routine, so at an early age, Lisa developed a passion for music. During her teenage years, she started to get more in tuned with the traditional music of Cape Verde. Cesaria Evora, Tito Paris, Lura, and Mayra Andrade were amongst her favorites. In her early school years, she was part of her school’s choir. Lisa felt comfortable singing in a group, but shied away from solo performances. Not until her senior year of high school did she decide to confront her fear. In 2006, Lisa Lopes won her school’s music competition (a version of the popular talent competition, American Idol), beating out 14 contestants, with an acapella rendition of “Love” by Keyshia Cole. From this moment and on, Lisa was inspired to share her talent with the world. A few years after graduating high school, Lisa Lopes moved to New Jersey, USA, where she encountered professionals in the music industry who sparked her interest in becoming a performing artist. She joined forces with Mo Green (rapper from Sao Vicente), and the band, Nos Ku Nos, and together they performed at several venues throughout New Jersey and New York, with the support of music executive, Marcy DePina. Their shows consisted of traditional music from Cape Verde, mixed in with Zouk and Hip Hop. Lisa was slowly becoming familiar to new fans in the industry. In 2010, Lisa Lopes joined forces with the well known Zouk producer, Mark G, and released her first single “Coracao” which would be featured on the Lights Out Djs compilation album, launching her singing career within the Cabo-Zouk market. With the success of this hit single, venues began to book Lisa for shows from Rhode Island to New Jersey, and internationally as far as Paris, France. In 2011, Lisa Lopes recorded “Confia Na Mi” with producer Ismael DeBrito, also known as Izzy Productions, which earned her a nomination in the 2012 CVMAs (Cape Verdean Music Awards), in the category for best female vocalist. Throughout the last few years, Lisa has released a few singles featuring artists like MD, Paul Lowe Jr., Chachi Carvalho, and D. Lopes, all of which have broadened her music style to reach to broader audiences. Lisa does not identify herself with any one particular genre of music. In fact, her plans are to explore all types music and push her vocal abilities and artistic flare to their limits. Lisa plans on singing any type of music that she feels comfortable with and free to do! Recently signed internationally to the executive production and music management teams of ISIS Records, CUSAV Entertainment, and DK Entertainment, Lisa Lopes has embarked upon a new journey of writing, singing and performing as an international starlet, and hopes to captivate the hearts of her fans worldwide!
