After a brief hiatus, talented vocalist Maduvha who has become famously known for her magnetic vocal chords is back in the music space with a brand new gospel album, Your Mercy. The songstress is no stranger to the mainstream scene; her work can be traced back to the days when she worked with talents such as Mafikizolo, Zola, Revolution, Joyous Celebration and many others. Now reclaiming her space as a gospel artist, Maduvha has bounced back to inject a positive message to the longing heart. The album is filled with great gospel songs with messages of praise and worship. Packed with songs that carry all the right sounds for 2014 and beyond, this offering invokes serious thoughts in a listener – music with highly meaningful message. ‘Your Mercy’ is one of the most enjoyable and mature tracks on this release. Embellished with inviting musical instruments, the tune embodies the soulfulness of the album. This is a very inspirational track that simply invites one to join in the choir and sing along. Recorded with a live band, this number is a proof that if one is a believer, anything is possible. Talking about the song, Maduvha says it’s her personal testimony of what happened to her a few years ago. As a result, the songstress has jot a song thanking God for granting her another opportunity to bless people through her music. “In 2011, I could no longer hold a note. After praying persistently, God healed me. He was merciful to me.” says Maduvha. The song is sung in Tshivenda, English and Xitsonga. The artist also breathes life into the project with piano laced songs that are very sentimental and easy to relate to. In addition to its perfect vocal content, this album is skillfully produced, arranged, mixed and mastered. Cementing the album, Maduvha co-produced the album with Zachariah Sibanyoni – a producer of note who has worked with a host of heavyweight artists. Bringing out an irresistible album, ‘Rea go Leboga’ which features the legendary Peter Mokoena, is an absolute hit! This is a soul touching song that invites one to God’s house. By simply listening to this album, it is that clear to note that the artist believes in the power of spreading word of God, inspire and entertain her fans at the same time. Telling stories through her musical works, one can only sit back, enjoy quality music and sing along to this release. Giving the album different sounds, Maduvha also worked with Irene Mawela on the song, ‘Iwe Mukhethwa’. “For me, I have always wanted to work with this legend because of her amazing singing talent.” The song fuses old-school sounds with the current gospel take, which accommodates everyone. Maduvha’s musical experience takes center stage as it shines throughout the album. The songwriting skill showcased and vocal ability cannot be compared to anything you have heard before. Her music speaks volume and sometimes words are not even enough to describe the message it carries. On the song ‘Sabelo’ the songstress worked with Rofhiwa Manyaga, a talented vocalist who is known for his majesty singing voice. Other songs to also listen to include ‘Change’ which features Bishop RC Madzinge and ‘Makhanana’ – a Swahili and Shona song which praises God for being good at all times. Almost every track on this album has its own admirable qualities. Your Mercy is a down-tempo release packed with sixteen original songs, all written by Maduvha. The album covers different musical styles, offering a bit of jazzy sound, old-school and marrying them with current gospel ingredients. 102LikeLike ·
