At the heart of the music of The Jetsuns is the voice of Joanne Louise and her emotive guitar based songs, embellished by the velvet tones of Lewis Fielding on bass and eclectic guitar work on selected tracks. Lovely." As a teenager Joanne Louise began her music career playing the vibrant Liverpool music scene of the late 80's. Impelled to write her own material, she eventually moved to London and recorded a mini album of her songs 'Love The Sea is Blue' with bassist Nick Cohen (Incognito, Massive Attack, Eurythmics) and featuring percussionist/drummer Preston Heyman (Kate Bush). Joanne Louise performed for HRH Prince Edward at The Theatre Royal in Stratford and at The Theatre Clwyd in Wales plus The Pavillion Theatre in Brighton. She was described by Time Out as 'one of Londons foremost up and coming songbirds...' She went underground and influenced by Reggae, Soul, Jazz and World music, and continued to develop her sound, writing, performing, busking and recording, all whilst bringing up her young son. Lewis Fielding is bassist and slide guitarist with The Jetsuns he is also a proffessional blues guitarist, he grew up in Stirling, Scotland and moved to London in '94. He's worked with Clarence Tex Walker and blues legend Big Joe Turner, supporting the great BB King at the Royal Albert Hall. Lewis plays blues guitar accompanying Little George Sueref (Womad, Lattitude festivals) and Jerimiah Marques (Mystique Blues festival, Blues bar London). During the recording of 'the Here & Now' The Jetsuns have performed at several London venues such as Camden's Jazz Cafe, Cargo, The Rhythm Factory and joining The Jetsuns live is Sarah Wackett flautist and backing vocalist and Cameron Warren on drums. The Jetsuns singer/songwriter Joanne Louise was born and grew up in Liverpool. Joanne Louise's grandmother Dolly lived in the Penny Lane area most of her life and used to hang out with John Lennon's mum Julia Lennon. They were good friends, so much so that Dolly was interviewed by Albert Goldman when he was researching his material for his biographical account of John's life. Dolly used to party with Julia and she says that Julia was the life and soul of regular gatherings where she used to play the ukelelee. Both Dolly and Julia were pregnant at the same time, Dolly was carrying Joannes mum Pauline and Julia was carrying John. Julia went into labour during an air raid 1940, they happened to be together and Dolly held Julias hand while the bombs were going off. As we know Julia was not around during Johns early years and he was brought up by his Aunt Mimi. John still used to visit Dolly particularly after school, at the tender age of 5 he used to knock on Dolly's back door asking for 'jam butties'. John went to school at Moss Pitts Lane primary along with Joannes mum Pauline, although Pauline was rather wary of the young John he was quite a fiesty boy apparently and Pauline was pretty scared of him. Joanne Louise has been very much influenced by Johns music particularly his message of peace that has permeated throughout his career, At the age of 15 she was lucky enough to be given her first guitar by family friend Brian O'Hara from The Fourmost, who advised her to write her own material which she eventually did. Now you have a chance to hear her message following the Liverpool tradition of conscious songwriting. How 'the Here & Now' came about... The Jetsuns are a North London based group that formed as a result of the music of singer/songwriter Joanne Louise. JL has been up and coming in the music world for some time, she was rather disenchanted with the music industry's reluctance to invest in female artists over the age of 30. So, determined not to give up on her dream she had just completed a new demo of a few of the 12 songs she longed to release independently as an album. Joanne Louise had been invited to perform at a friends party in Brighton she took with her on the train a guitar, portable amplifier, plus the rest of her gear and rushed onto her train, plonking herself on a seat near the door, she had just made it! A 'stranger' opposite her struck up a conversation with her he was most inquisitive as to the kind of music she played. JL happened to have her demo on her and he had his Walkman! It turned out that 'the stranger, was a workshop facilitator and his next workshop had the same title as JL's already named and longed for album 'The Here and Now'... They spent the whole journey discussing Jo's dream to manifest these songs into a CD. The next day 'The Stranger' emailed Jo, he loved the music and offered her £2000 to kick start the project! With the involvement of Lewis Fielding on bass (also from North London) and Sarah Wackett on flute (Enfield) The Jetsuns were formed and the Album is now complete along with bio-degradable cellophane wrap!
