This is Volume 2 of John's "Open Source Music" project. The first volume is "Get Beyond," which is already widely available. John's Open Source Music releases include the multitrack stems with the music itself, provided under the Creative Commons Attribution license (meaning you are free to remix and sample, royalty-free, as long as you give credit). Results of Get Beyond's open source release are a series of remixes you can listen to on Indaba Music, but it's early days -- who knows what the world will create? On "If I Want You To," John examines the privilege and power that people try to grant him over themselves, and the conflicting feelings of both repulsion and seduction that follow. On that note, this release features no fewer than 22 b-sides, capturing John's period of angry, turbulent expressionist recordings, as well as some of his early atmospheric post-rock experimentation.
