Camp Sunnyside is celebrating its 50th year of fun, laughter, and good friends. It is a place where children and adults with and without disabilities gather to enjoy themselves and explore all their potentials. Campfires, sing-a-longs, arts and crafts, nature walks, swimming and horseback riding all provide the excitement of a traditional summer camp in a fully accessible setting. Located on 88 acres on the north side of Des Moines, Camp Sunnyside was designed, built and is staffed to meet the recreational needs of campers with all types of disabilities. Several types of camp are offered: Residential Camp, Supported Day Camp, Bridge Camp and Respite Camp all include swimming in the fully accessible year-round aquatic center, archery, nature trails, talent shows, fishing, dances, canoeing and pontooning, a climbing wall, tree house, and all the special activities planned by the Camp staff.
