简介
There are many misconceptions about my "band." A solo project, a side project, a one man band, not even a band, a bunch of noise, an ego maniac on the lose with no talent whatsoever, electronic rock, crap rock, whatever it is you want to call it...I really don't seem to care as long as it stirs some sort of thought or emotion in you...that and that alone makes it all worthwhile. For those of you who don't know me my name is Jaycee and I am Lipstick. The reason "I" am Lipstick is simple. There are no boundaries, there is no set direction, no ifs, ands, or buts. Lipstick was created from all the thoughts and ideas that were not used during what my friends call my "band whore" days. I've played with Radium (bass guitar), Mr. Pink's Revenge (drums), Fallout (vocals), Level (bass guitar), La Fuerza del Debil (drums), leaving to Los Angeles and joining Idle (guitar then drums) and I might add a pretty damn good reality check and turning point in my life, which then lead to me coming back home to El Paso to join Airplanes are Better. The latter of which brought about my final decision to fully concentrate and dedicate my time to what is now Lipstick. Joining Airplanes are Better was what I consider the peak of my "musical career." I say this because we had the chance to tour with Sparta (a homegrown band now signed to Dreamworks). We played shows for no less than 500 people each and every night. Airplanes are Better, in my opinion, had reached the farthest I felt it could go. A great band, with opportunities that I felt were taken for granted. Nonetheless, I continue writing, recording, and performing on my own in search of band members who would share the same ideas, vision, and dedication as I do. As long as these ideas and thoughts keep brewing in my head nothing and no one will keep from documenting, implying, and implementing them. REASON FOR THE NAME: I wanted something that reflects what normally inspires me such as everyday relationships and girls who can pull a rabbit from a hat. I wanted something feminine but with a masculine touch. I thought Lipstick fit perfectly. EXPERIENCE: Playing in all the bands I've played with has been a great experience. I've been able to do things I probably wouldn't have been able to do if I hadn't joined. Things like touring with Sparta, opening for the Jealous Sound, Icarus Line, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Blue October, and lots of other bands. Most importantly it's helped me strengthen my musical abilities and confidence. It's because of all these bands I've joined that I became Lipstick ALBUMS: PAGE ONE (Released March 2000) TECHNOLOGY FOR A GIRL (Released August 2002)
