Todd Kelly's love for 'Fusion' goes back to 1980 when he was first introduced to the music of Jean Luc Ponty, Chick Corea, Weather Report, and the Pat Metheny Group. For Todd, these artists represented a new creative frontier with their wide open compositions and instrumental virtuosity. Their 'fusion' of Jazz, Rock, and Classical styles became the 'X-factor' that drove Todd's creativity ever since. It's a bit odd then, that 'American Roadster' is his first release with his Fusion band, TK & the Sway. While Todd's current catalogue is mostly New Age and Neo-Classical (with a little Celtic thrown in), an album of his Jazz, Rock compositions will be recorded soon (including the Latin gem, São Paulo).

American Roadster is true Americana Fusion, blending Blues, Jazz, and Rock inspired by a road trip through Virginia in the fall of 2008, just before the election. Ironically, visiting Colonial Williamsburg and driving past countless Civil War battlegrounds as we were about to elect our first African-American president seemed a penultimate moment in our nation...the ideals of our Declaration forged on the crucible of bloodshed about to be realized as never before. Freedom is never truly 'free'. So, with American Roadster blasting from your sound system the next time you road trip, celebrate your freedom to hit the open road while you ride off into the sunset in your own American Roadster.
