简介

Chill专辑介绍:by David GonzalesFemale rapper Chill's rapping on 1997's Chill was enthusiastic, but somewhat amateurish. Still, the album was fun, and Chill oozed personality and charisma. Her rapping on Egomaniacal, the Philippine's second album, is more polished and technically proficient, but some listeners might think the album is less fun than before. Chill's improved proficiency is apparent on songs such as "I'm Your Gurl," "Baliw," and the amazing "Speed," where she raps in a dazzlingly fast manner, all the while maintaining her poise and attitude. As before, Chill says what's on her mind, as heard in the title song, "Egomaniacal," where she tells a guy in no uncertain terms (expletive deleted) what she thinks of his "ego." Once again Chill plays a strong role on the technical side of the album, producing or co-producing all of the tracks, as well as participating in the mixing of the songs. She also wrote all the songs, aside from co-writing two numbers. Chill wisely refrains from singing on this album, as her singing on the first album was mostly poor and off-key. The singing on Egomaniacal is mostly performed by guest artists, as heard in "Baliw" (trans: Crazy), the chorus of which is sung by Aia De Leon, and it sounds quite good. Unlike before, there are many guest rappers/vocalists on this album, including impressive singer Vince Alares on "Freakyness," and Chill sometimes seems as though she's a guest artist on her own album. The arrangements and musicianship throughout Egomaniacal are excellent, as heard on the silky, rhythm & blues-styled, "Freakyness." Still, some listeners might find the songs on Egomaniacal to be less fun than before, as the amateurish approach and fun atmosphere of the first album had much charm.
